Minor Alfa bugs

Mandarinboy   December 8th, 2010 6:51p.m.

I could not find the "Add to Skritter" bookmarklet on the new Alfa designed pages so i tried to turn off Alfa to see if it where still in the classic view. By the way, that bookmarklet is awesome.

When doing so however the page stated that I also had changed:

Alpha Features changed to disabled.
Target Retention Rate changed to 97%.
Use Heisig keywords changed to disabled.

Those features are not even on that page. I then checked that page and yes, they are changed.

The fun thing is that I can't reproduce this error now. Maybe a weird coincidence but puzzling to me none the less.

Another problem is that the I am given new words to study in an rapid pace. I have set it to add manually but I still get new words and have now a mountain of new words to study. Causing me a little bit of problem since i finally will go home to Sweden in just two days and hoped to make the queue smaller before that:-) I turn off Alfa features for now.

Svensk? Trevligt.

YouJing   December 9th, 2010 10:36a.m.

I'm also having the (alpha) problem with automatic adding when I have it set to manually add. Just thinking about how sweet my practicing will be after this gets fixed gives me butterflies in my stomach.

Sorry for switching to Swedish, Since we can't direct communicate with other Skritter users this happens. But, I switch back to English to not offend anyone.

@jouJing I where send to Japan some years ago "for a weeks work" and is still here:-)
I have my oldest daughter (6 year) in school in China so I weekend commute to Hangzhou. Rest of the family are in Sweden. I fly home tonight but will go back to China next week and pick up my daughter there before heading home (the same day) for a Swedish traditional Xmas with snow, snow and more snow:-). We will probably all move to Hangzhou more permanently next year. Guess that is my motivation to speed up my Chinese learning.

Hmm, I'm having trouble reproducing this. How many words did it add after you put it on manual? It should only add a few more at most, if it had added some right before you stopped it from adding automatically.

If it's adding an awful lot long after you set it to manual though, could you let me know which form of study you're doing? Is it everything, a list, a section? If it's one of the latter two, which list or section?

Also, when the new words do show up, does the progress bar drop down and show what list the word was added from? If it doesn't do that, then the words added were added before it was set to manually add.

Oh yeah, and about the initial bugs.

Were those the settings you had before? Or did the system change to those settings by itself?

The bookmarklet is temporarily orphaned as we reorganize things. The home page is going to have a bit of an overhaul and the bookmarklet will go over there, we think. It will return!
