Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

www.skritter.com no access in Taiwan

russell359   March 18th, 2012 6:39a.m.

Hi, I live in Taiwan, for the past few days I've had to switch to www.skritter.cn or ios.skritter to access the site. Before that I was able to access skritter.com, but now I no longer have access. Now Taiwan isn't beind the "great wall", so I'm just wondering what gives? Or has Pres. Ma decided to take things forward and integrate Taiwan's internet with China's... (well that can't be as I still have access to Facebook!... oh well)

I have had no problem using cell phone and computer from the south.

Hmm, we haven't really changed much about the site that could cause this. Try these general troubleshooting steps:

- Try a different browser
- Turn off all browser add ons
- Try with a different computer
- Try on a different internet connection

Maybe you should also try previous versions to see if any changes made the difference. Try using 4-2.latest.write-way.appspot.com, or 4-1.latest.write-way.appspot.com (the February and January releases, respectively). What happens when you use these?

Thanks for the advice.

I think it must be something to do with my VDSL ISP, Sonet, since I can access skritter.com on a 3G connection here in Taiwan, no problem. Can't access 4-2 and 4-1 either on my VDSL connection.

Never mind I'll just use .cn and pretend I'm in China ;).

dfoxworthy, just out of interest, who's your ADSL/VDSL ISP? as I'd like to look into changing, Sonet aren't all that great sometimes.

@malaili2: Have you been using www.skritter.com or www.skritter.cn? We've been getting reports about our previous server for www.skritter.cn not being available, so we tried moving it to see if that worked better for people. So it might be related to that, if you're using www.skritter.cn. I don't know why www.skritter.com would be having issues though.
