This is simply by curiosity.

I often find myself grading a character as 1: Forgot even though I got it right. What happens is that I see the prompt, know what I'm supposed to write, but have this weird feeling of uncertainty. For example, I keep getting confused with: '讀'書 / 成'績' / 繼'續'

I feel it's important that I write a character without this weird hesitation. On actual pen/paper, this wouldn't work out very well I think!

I think you're being a bit harsh with your grading based on what you've described. If you get it right, it's right. If you really have a strange feeling about it or it's an easily confused word then you could star it.

If you keep grading like that when you have double or more the vocabulary your daily queue is going to start becoming tough to tackle.

My advice for using pen/paper even if you feel some hesitation is to scribble something down, get corrected and learn from the mistake. Though I think you'll find your initial scribble was correct.

What I'm doing with synonyms is to write them down and if the right one is among them I grade it as correct or so-so (depending on if their proper synonyms or near synonyms).

My advice is to be as harsh on yourself as you like. You may have more words to study in the short term but in the long term it should stabilize and you will be studying about the same amount.

Consider making a note of the character you're confusing it with in both definitions. You'll be reminded of it each time you study them. After a while you can remove it, if you wish. Works for me.

Yeah I do star these characters. Only problem with starring: I never really go study the starred list!

I think I need to practice much more on pen/paper. I had an exam last week and I couldn't write fast or neatly enough. Although I did recall all characters, so go skritter!
