Studying Textbook Sections

xiaotang   January 31st, 2015 7:23p.m.

Is it at all possible to simultaneously study different textbook sections?

I may feel like it's time to move on to the next chapter in the text before I'm finished on Skritter, but under ''Change Study Settings''I can only add one section at a time.

So it would add, say, the first half of Chapter 3 and the first half of Chapter 4? But what about the other words in Chapter 3?

It sounds a bit confusing. You might just want to add all of Chapter 3 and then start on Chapter 4, or just cram on Chapter 4 with the single-section study (only available on web version for now). These would only be temporary fixes, whereas the real fix would be to Skritter more or ban some of the words you don't really need so that you can keep up. It's too bad, since Chinese classes often go too fast for students to actually retain the words with a reasonable amount of study time, but they're oriented more towards short-term cramming.

Sorry if my wording was confusing; I meant that, when you study a textbook, you can choose which chapter you want to add vocabulary from in the 'Change Study Settings' menu.

However, it seems that it's only possible to add vocab from one chapter at a time, which is an issue if you want/need to move on to the next chapter and you haven't finished on Skritter yet.

I know that when you're 'done' with a chapter, that vocabulary will mix in with the vocab from the chapter that's currently being added when you choose to study the textbook (hope that makes sense).

So I was asking if there will be a feature that will allow you to add vocabulary from different chapters at the same time?

You could try making a separate list for each chapter you would like to study at the same time, with just the words from the desired section in each list (you can copy and paste the whole contents of a section), and then select just those lists for study so that they are in the "Adding words from section", (making sure to pause the other lists), and then by using the standard "Study" button you would be studying the different list sections at the same time. It sounds like that may be a solution!

By the way, is that Ranma?

Ah, lol. I never thought about just exporting the vocab and making my own list. That will definitely work then. I appreciate the help.

And yes, that's Ranma. ^^
