Problem stroke on iOS app

蓓蕾   April 25th, 2013 2:44p.m.

I have a lot of trouble getting the app to recognize the 5th stroke of such characters as 贽, 挚, 势, etc. Does anyone else have trouble with this stroke?

Something about the software wanting a very specific kind of hooking swipe, but I can never figure out what it wants except by repeating the stroke like 10 times.

It's gotten so frustrating I almost just skip the character rather than try to write it, even when I know it.

Also totally unrelated, how do you use the app to post to the forum? I keep getting this message about needing to finish setting up my account, but then I can't login through the login screen because 'the account name has already been taken'

Hmm; I didn't hear many reports of problems with that type of stroke when I did the tuning last. Can you try to make all of your angles very exaggerated (so like straight line segments, not curves) and count how many segments you're writing the stroke with?

The bug for posting to the forum from within the app will be fixed in the next app release. Sorry about that.

I think I would use 4 segments? But I feel like the angles on the example you posted are a little different than when it's on top if a character like those I posted above. For example, 执, which I don't have near as much trouble with.

I'll try switching the strokes using the recognizer for 势 to use the recognizer from 执 instead. See if it works better on beta (try writing the stroke and pressing z to clear it a few times). It'll go out in the next app update, too.

Yes! These are the same type strokes in my post about 熱. It seems I'm not the only one.
