How should you study Chinese...

If you want to improve your Japanese?

My Chinese has been dormant for the past few years, as my attention has shifted to Japanese. I’m getting bored, though, studying the same language each day and want to refocus on something new and different. Any suggestions? How do you handle losing motivation?

Why are you learning Japanese and Chinese?

I don't understand your question.

I live in Japan. People here speak Japanese.

I enjoy reading Chinese characters. The spoken language does not really appeal to me, though.

I would concentrate on the characters and it equivalent in Japanese kanji. Also the
Etymology, radical, changes in character forms through history. It might be also interesting to look in to calligraphy and then compare the differences.

When I started learning Chinese, I thought Japanese was going to be the next when I am done with Chinese.
It's been 12 years and I am far from being done with Chinese.... Maybe I could just do two at the same time. :)
